Our Real Detroit Wedding: February 2, 2019
“Working with Mike Staff was the best! I would absolutely recommend Mike Staff to all the future brides out there. Bundling our Detroit wedding photography, videography, and DJ was very beneficial. Not only did we get a better price, everyone knew each other and had a good rapport. I think this definitely played a role in having a such a fantastic wedding.
I cannot say enough good things about your company as a whole and all of the individuals who have helped us out along the way. Everyone was very professional, easy to talk to, helpful, considerate, trustworthy, and so patient. Mark, Vesna, Mike, and Jestice are ALL extremely talented and I can’t thank them enough.” – Happy Bride, Erin
Our Love Story
Brian and I were actually casual acquaintances (at best) years before we started dating. Looking back, we initially met several years ago at a Christmas party he was hosting at his house. Our paths crossed a few more times over the years, but the timing was never right. Later, in 2016, we were paired up in my cousin’s wedding and we clicked immediately. So, technically we had already walked down the aisle together! Timing again, wasn’t perfect, as I was living in Chicago and Brian in Michigan. However, we realized that we had something truly special and knew that we were meant to be together so we made the distance work. We had a lot of fun together bouncing back and forth from Chicago to Royal Oak every other weekend! We maintained our long distance relationship for two and a half years, only going 3-4 weekends without seeing each other, until I moved back to Michigan two months before our wedding!
Brian proposed on New Year’s Eve 2017 which was probably the COLDEST day of the year. We were in Chicago and planned on going out to dinner with our friends to celebrate the New Year. Somehow, Brian and and my friends convinced me to take pictures outside at the Adler Planetarium with the city skyline backdrop (I’m not sure if you’ve been there but the view is beautiful!). I was so miserable I almost ruined the surprise because I kept trying to get back into the car. Eventually, Brian got down on one knee in the snow and proposed to me in front of some of my most favorite people in the world and in one of my most favorite cities 🙂
Our Mike Staff Productions DJ
The song played during our first dance was At Last by Etta James. It’s such a pretty song and the lyrics really resonated with us both.
Shout! Our professional wedding DJ, Mike, was AWESOME! He was fun, laid back, and easy to work with. He had people out on the dance floor the whole night. Brian and I received so many compliments about how fun our wedding was and I know Mike played a huge part in that.
Our Wedding Video
We heard from a few close friends that their biggest regret was not getting a wedding video. To be honest, Brian and I thought about not doing it because of the expense but I’m so glad we changed our mind. Our photographs are great but our professional wedding video captured all of those little moments in between pictures. I absolutely love and cherish it!
Our Wedding Photography
Mark and Vesna were a great team. They definitely complimented each other well. Both of them were kind and thoughtful but also knew how to command a room when needed. Somehow they managed to rally 20 of us to three different locations throughout Detroit and still got us to the church and reception on time. As a bride, I really appreciated how often they checked in with me to see if I needed food, water, etc. Vesna even helped me bustle my dress when by bridesmaids couldn’t figure it out, ha!
My wedding photos are extremely important to me. Mark and Vesna did a great job capturing those favorite moments. I think I have looked at the photos every day since we received them (we got them back early too)!
