Our Real Wedding: June 7, 2019
“Mike Staff was amazing to work with. Our initial consultation, I got a good sense of their style and the amazing staff. Their online portal was easy to use and the days leading up to the wedding were well communicated. Our videographer, Dustin was so friendly and easy to work with. He captured our day perfectly, down to the tiny details of our day.”

Our Love Story
We had planned an extended weekend trip to Leelanau, MI before Jacob started back up in school. He was very thoughtful in making sure to get both of my dad’s (father and step-father) permissions before he popped the question. The day before we left, my niece was born. While everyone was waiting to hear the official news of her birth, Jacob took my step-dad Paul out to lunch to ask for his permission. On our way up north the next day, we stopped at my dad’s cottage for lunch. Unbeknownst to me, he pulled my dad away to ask for his permission as well. After lunch we headed to Leelanau State Park where we were staying for our first night of the trip. We got camp set up and just in time to go check out the sunset. We grabbed a drink and took a walk to the very tip of the little finger and just watched the sunset towards the water. I was ready to head back and cook some dinner, but Jacob stalled just a little bit longer to enjoy the view. Or so I thought. He started getting sentimental talking about our future and all of sudden got down on one knee and proposed. Everything in the moment was perfect. Jacob even snuck up chilled champagne without me knowing so we could have something to celebrate and toast to. We celebrated the rest of the weekend touring wineries and breweries, kayaking and biking.
Our Wedding Vision
We wanted Detroit to be a part of our wedding and after we found the perfect venue for us, The Rattlesnake Club, we also brought Detroit in as an overlaying theme. We wanted our guests, near and far, to enjoy the city as much as we do.
A few ways we tied in Detroit: My friend, Michael Johns, helped us create beautiful invitations and various collateral pieces that pulled in the Detroit skyline. For our thank you gift, I hand crafted Detroit themed coasters for guests to take away and remember our celebration but also the beautiful city.
Our Wedding Video
We knew there would be so much happening throughout the day with moments flying by faster than we would expect. Having the wedding video captured so many special moments that we can watch and listen to for a lifetime meant a lot to us. From the ceremony and speeches to our first dance and joy shared with all of our family and friends.
Our Wedding Memories
The first look was one of our favorite moments of the day for us. It helped relieve any nerves being able to see each other, which put us at ease to be able to enjoy the entire day together. As a last-minute decision, Jacob and his father John coordinated to bring down their 1971 Camaro downtown and placed on the roof top of the Z Garage for our first look. It was a great accent to the skyline scenery, and we were able to capture such beautiful romantic shots.
Our first dance was another favorite moment of ours. We ended up taking dance lessons through Glenn Clark-Stardust and was a great way to connect with each other through the planning process. By the time we got to the big day, we got a bit nervous that we weren’t going to remember our dance and practiced really quick before entering the reception. The dance ended up going smoothly, even though I messed up our last step at the end, but no one could notice.
