Our Real Detroit Wedding: February 8, 2020
“10/10 would recommend! We had the most amazing wedding! Having a good DJ is SO key, and we could not have asked for a better one for our reception! We’ve also already had the opportunity to watch our wedding video, and it captures all of the best moments from our wedding day!”
– Happy Bride, Taylor
Our Love Story
Matt proposed to me in Yosemite, CA in November 2018! We live in Los Angeles and this was around the time that we were experiencing very bad wildfires, so the air quality in LA was worse than normal! Matt suggested that we take a spontaneous (or so I thought!) weekend trip to Mammoth Mountain, one of our favorite places in California. Yosemite is only an hour or so away, so we decided to spend the day there. We hiked to the top of this large boulder and he got down on one knee and proposed at the top! Matt packed a picnic with a bottle of champagne and my favorite snacks, so after he proposed we spent the afternoon sitting by a lake, drinking champagne and just enjoying each others company! We FaceTimed our families as soon as we got back to our hotel, then Matt had planned a romantic dinner for the two of us at our favorite restaurant in Mammoth!
Our Wedding Vision
The wedding aesthetic I was going for was timeless and elegant- a black and white color palette with lots of greenery- but I also wanted to make sure we threw a great party. The vibe ended up being very Great Gatsby in the best way possible.
Our Wedding DJ
We had a phenomenal reception thanks in large part to our DJ, Ron! He played the perfect range of music throughout the night so that literally every single one of our guests heard some songs they liked to dance to. He really listened to what Matt and I envisioned, and perfectly executed our goal of making sure everyone was on their feet and dancing all night long! During our wedding and the days after, everyone complimented us on how great our wedding DJ was!
For our first dance, we danced to “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” the version sung by Haley Reinhart. It took us forever to find a song (we literally decided on this one a few days before the wedding!) We probably listened to a thousand potential songs, and tentatively selected 5 or so others in the months leading up to our wedding, but none of them felt right. We kept coming back to this one though, and looking back now it was definitely the right fit!
Our Wedding Videography
Getting a wedding video was important to us because we knew the day of the wedding was going to be a blur, and that it would fly by. We really wanted a professional wedding videographer to capture the moments, so we could go back and watch the events of the day again and again. The best part is getting to see moments of our wedding that Matt and I missed or didn’t notice while we were in the moment!
Our Wedding Memories
My favorite moment was definitely my dad walking me down the aisle. He was so emotional and when we got to the end of the aisle I turned to my dad and saw that both he and Matt were struggling to hold back tears. It was a really sweet moment that I will remember forever.
