Our Holly Vault Wedding: October 30, 2021
“Overall, our experience with Mike Staff was fantastic! We felt immediately that we were in great hands and would be well taken care of. The communication with all parties was great, I loved that I was able to reach out whenever I had any questions and I would receive a response quickly. I have already been recommending Mike Staff to couples that I know, because we had such a positive experience beginning to end.”
Our Love Story
Andrew proposed during our annual trip to Houghton Lake, MI. It had been raining the whole day, finally clearing up right as the sun was setting, and he asked to take a picture with me out on the dock with our dogs. He then surprised me and got down on one knee to ask for my hand in marriage, with my closest friends present to immediately join in the celebration.
Andrew and I met in high school, but our timing was not right until we were 22. We both had work off one day and I had asked if he wanted to spend time together, so we picked up a pizza and played Pokémon together (yes, very romantic). Our timing was finally right and we have been together for 9 years now!
Our Wedding Vision
In the beginning, I was going for clean simplicity with white linens and greenery, with candles. I had planned for the bridesmaids to wear muted mauve and to have a very neutral palette overall. After finding our venue and setting our date, the clean white linen look no longer fit. I wanted to honor the season properly, with copper chargers and black linens for the colors of Halloween, and keep the glamour feel with the tall candelabras and dramatic, moody florals. Our bridesmaids wore jewel-toned velvet dresses to tie into the moody palette as well.
Our Wedding Photography
Our professional wedding photographer, Mary, was so wonderful to work with. We felt instantly comfortable with her and loved that we felt so natural being photographed by her. Having per point of view of each detail of the day also showed us the parts that we did not see, such as guests mingling at cocktail hour, and the happiness in everyone’s faces during our ceremony.
Our wedding photos are very important to me because I love looking back on moments throughout the year (and my life) and reflecting on the memories and emotions felt during those times. Having such beautiful photos captured means the world to me, as I am a very sentimental person.
Our photos are helping those who were unable to attend feel like they are seeing first-person views of each part of the day, from the girls getting ready, to the laughter as we were cutting our cake. Having to limit our guest list due to the pandemic was very difficult for both of us, with having to make decisions on who we could extend an invitation to.
