Kristine and John’s Wedding at Weber’s Boutique Hotel

Our Wedding: May 7th, 2022

Our Love Story

We met our freshman at the University of Michigan. We were part of a “Mystery Pen Pal” program between two of the dorms. We ended up meeting up in person and really hit it off, but didn’t start dating seriously until the summer before our senior year. After 5 1/2 years of dating, John proposed by the Huron River in the Arb.

Our Favorite Moments

We both loved every moment of our ceremony at St. Thomas. We also loved taking pictures by the magnolia tree behind the church – the petals falling during our photo shoot was extremely romantic. Dancing at the reception was a blast too. The dance floor was packed and everyone loved our DJ, Joe!

Our Wedding DJ

Joe was simply incredible and was probably the highlight of our reception. He was able to incorporate all of our song suggestions, but he managed the flow of them so that people were constantly on the dance floor. If the dance floor was “emptying out” for a less popular song, it still was half full. He was able to read the kind of music people wanted. We had multiple people tell us afterward that “this is the most I’ve ever danced at a wedding!” We couldn’t have been happier with our wedding DJ!

Our Wedding Photography

Jennifer, our professional wedding photographer, was so good! She was punctual the day of the wedding and was able to get to the church ahead of us to get some good shots before we got there for the “getting ready” photos. We were originally planning to go to the Arb for pictures, but scrapped that idea completely once we saw some of her suggestions for around the church. She was the one that found the magical magnolia tree behind the church.

Our Wedding Planning Advice

  • Make sure you take the time to eat at your reception.
  • If you have a larger wedding, you’re not going to be able to talk to everyone. Do your best, but make sure you enjoy your wedding. If you’re like us and didn’t have a wedding planner or day of coordinator, you spent a lot of time and effort planning and you should take the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
  • Discuss whether or not you’re smashing wedding cake in each others faces…and then when you think your partner was joking…make sure they really are joking.
