Our Love Story
We met in high-school during track practice and have been together for almost 9 years now. The day before our 7 year anniversary, Matt proposed right outside my childhood home. I was told my parents wanted to take a photo of us in the backyard by the water. By the time we made it near the water, he got down on one knee! Of course, my parents knew the plan and documented the whole thing.
I loved how he chose a simple place that has so many memories. We also took some photos here on our wedding day!
Our Wedding Vision
We wanted a traditional style wedding at our beautiful church and a very simple, elegant style decor for our reception. Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Macomb, MI was the perfect fit our wedding. The emphasis was making sure everyone had a great time which is why we were happy to have the help of Mike Staff!
Our Wedding DJ
Our professional wedding DJ, Kevin, had great energy and was very professional. We’ve had endless compliments on how awesome he was. Everyone liked the range of music that was played for all age groups to enjoy. He had everyone out on the dance floor. I saw people dancing that I never expected to see out there!
Our first dance was to “Annie’s Song” by John Denver. This song is special to us because it’s old and loved by many. Matt always loved the song and chose it immediately when I asked him what he wanted to dance to. Everyone usually expects the bride to choose the song but having Matt decide was what made it even more special to me. It will always have a special place in our hearts.
Our Wedding Photos
Our professional wedding photographer, Mike, was great to work with. He’s so calm and professional. He made us feel very comfortable on such a fast-paced and overwhelming day! We had a fairly large wedding party but he handled the group photos perfectly. He truly made it fun for us!
Our Wedding Video
Having a professional wedding video in addition to photos was important to us because it will last forever beyond our wedding day! We wanted to make sure we’d be able to re-live the day we put so much work into planning.
We also wanted to make sure there was footage of our amazing family and friends who took time out to celebrate with us! You don’t realize how many moments you won’t physically see as the bride and groom because you are focusing on other things. We appreciate knowing those moments were captured for us to see later.
Our Favorite Wedding Memory
We both agree our favorite moment was seeing each other for the first time that day, as I walked up the aisle with my Father. The moment our eyes met was something we will never forget. We also enjoyed dancing into our reception to see all the friends and family who came to celebrate with us!
Our Wedding Planning Advice
There is too much pressure to be perfect on your wedding day. Not everything can be controlled or planned for. Remember what’s really important and it’s okay if something unexpected happens.
