Our Wedding on Saint John’s Resort: April 15, 2023
“If we were to do it all again, we would 100% choose Mike Staff Productions. Our photographer, Greg, and videographer, Steve, provided amazing guidance that made the day so easy and comfortable. We enjoyed that they could make us laugh and also challenged us to get in some interesting places that ended up yielding the best photos (looking at dipping on the waterfall rocks at St. John’s resort). Also, we cannot say enough about DJ Kevin! He truly was the quarterback of our wedding (as he would say in his promo video) and kept the dance floor going strong all night. Especially now, looking back on our pictures and videos, we are so thankful that Mike Staff Productions works with talented artists that matched our style and made it easy to capture the memories from our day.” – Happy bride, Anne
Our Love Story
Our original engagement was planned to be in Ireland as a graduation surprise, however, due to travel constraints in 2020, Devin had to pivot his plans. We ended up planning a small weekend getaway in Traverse City for the fall. Devin surprised me by pulling off at a small beach after driving through the “Tunnel of Trees” along Lake Michigan. We walked down the beach a little ways so that we could share a private moment, which he used to propose using my grandmother’s engagement ring, which made it all the more special.
Our Wedding Vision
For us, it was important for the day to be focused on bringing our families together as well as having a ceremony in the Catholic Church. We wanted a venue that had an elevated and elegant feel.
Our Favorite Wedding Moments
Anne’s favorite moment was her dad’s toast, it was a moving thank you to all the family that was present and celebrated our love. Devin’s favorite moments were seeing Anne as the doors opened down the aisle and getting to spend time mingling amongst family and friends.
Our Wedding DJ
Our first dance was to an acoustic version of Blink 182’s First Date. While not the most traditional first dance song, it was a nod to our early dating days when we would be hanging out with our close friends blasting pop punk music and enjoying a Friday night or a Football Saturday tailgate (Go Blue!).
We cannot say enough about our professional wedding DJ, Kevin! He truly was the quarterback of our wedding (as he would say in his promo video) and kept the dance floor going strong all night.
Our Wedding Video
Having seen other friend’s wedding videos, we knew that we wanted a video to allow us to relive our day. What we didn’t expect, and what we ended up loving, was how seamless the video incorporated speeches, the ceremony, and the reception.
Our Wedding Photos
Our wedding photographer, Greg, and videographer, Steve, provided amazing guidance that made the day so easy and comfortable. We enjoyed that they could make us laugh and also challenged us to get in some interesting places that ended up yielding the best photos (looking at dipping on the waterfall rocks at St. John’s resort). Especially now, looking back on our pictures and videos, we are so thankful that Mike Staff Productions works with talented artists that matched our style and made it easy to capture the memories from our day.
Our Wedding Planning Advice
At the end of the day, not every little detail will be perfect and that is okay! Enjoy the planning process with family (since we were out of town every planning meeting was a great excuse to see our family and friends) and make sure that you take time to yourselves on your wedding day to reflect on the day, as it goes by too quickly.
