Our Real Detroit Wedding: December 2, 2017

Our Love Story

“Bobby and I both met when we were working in the hospital. He was just finishing up nursing school and I was about to begin my first semester. One of our co-workers had planned a night out. We both showed up, had a few drinks, danced and the rest was history. A house, new jobs and 2 furry children later, Bobby purposed at the end of a long, wonderful weekend getaway in Traverse City.”

Our Beautiful Barn Wedding

“We really wanted something different. No offense to those who seek out the perfect hall, but that just wasn’t us. A barn wedding really grabbed our interest. We had looked at only one other before visiting Frutig Farms. The second we walked in and seen the high ceilings and all the wooden beams, we were sold. The venue itself is stunning, but we wanted to just add our own touch of color and glam. Being it was the first weekend in December, we weren’t sure what Michigan weather was going to give us. It ended up being sunny and 50 degrees.

When the day arrived, the one moment that topped all moments from our wedding day was turning the corner and standing at the end of the aisle, and seeing Bobby’s face (and tears). All the hard work and planning was meant for that exact moment. When I knew all of it was for that feeling, and I was about to say “I Do” to my best friend. My vision overall came together perfectly, and I am so happy it was all captured with the photos and video.”

Our Wedding Video = Must Have

“When first beginning our wedding planning, I would read all different articles about the “must haves” and the things you could “do without”. A wedding video was always on the must haves, and the brides who didn’t have one were really bummed they opted out. Not everything can be captured in a photograph, so a video was a must. We really wanted to be able to relive our wedding day whenever we wanted. Rocky did an amazing job, he was able to capture the most important moments and you are really able to feel the emotion in the video. What we love most is hearing our vows because we both were so nervous we did not get to focus as much as we wanted to. Now we can look back and re-watch them anytime.”

‘Melissa was our photographer. She was very detail oriented, which was awesome. She got in contact with us about a week before the wedding and went over details about the day and answered all of our questions. She made sure to capture all the moments, even the funny ones. We had a decent sized group so it was pretty impressive that she kept everyone on the same page during the group shots.’
